June 25: Harry Tuft Concert
Harry Tuft will be here for a Traditional Music House Concert, Wednesday, June 25th at 8:00 PM, at the Home of Judy and Dennis Cook in West Laurel, call 301-776-4314 for directions.
Harry Tuft is the absolute master of the story song. He presents wonderful songs, both tender and zany, with impressive tenderness, allowing us to see into the song’s heart
June 25: Freestate Happy Wanderers Recreational Walk
Everyone is welcome at the Freestate Happy Wanderers recreational walking events scheduled on Saturday, June 28, 1997, starting at Laurel Lakes, Granville Gude Park in Laurel; and on Sunday, July 6, 1997, starting at Montpelier Mansion in Laurel. Each event will offer a 10 Km and 5Km trail. Come and enjoy fun and exercise with family and friends.
June 28-29: Laurel Amateur Radio Club - Field Day
Saturday June 28 @ 12 Noon - Sunday June 29 @ 4 pm @ Panther Field, Brooklyn Bridge Road Just West of the I-95 Overpass.
There will be presentations, demonstrations, and the opportunity
to actually talk to other stations across the country.
Come learn how you can use Amateur Radio to talk to the Space Shuttle, make contacts through satellites, make telephone calls from your car, emergency operations, wireless computer communications, vehicle tracking and other mapping applications, public service event support (parades, marathons), complement your Neighborhood Watch program, sending Radiograms to family and friends across the country, broadcasting pictures to TV, getting a license (morse code not required), and have a bunch of fun.

July 5: Laurel 4th of July Celebration
July 26: Car Wash @ Sunny's Suplus on Route 1 from 9am to 2pm
On Saturdays, July 26, 1997 and August 9, 1997, the Adventure Patrol of Cadette troop will be holding car washes at Sunny Surplus from 9AM- 2PM for donations. The money earned will go to the Adventure Patrol's trip to New York City right after Thanksgiving this year.

October 4: Freestate Happy Wanderers Walk in West Laurel
Start anytime between 8 am and 2 PM and completing by 5 PM. Start at the West Laurel Community Center 16501 Supplee Lane. There are two trails, both 10 Km with a 5 Km option. The trail on city streets is suitable for strollers and wheelchairs. The other trail is through the woods and is not suitable for strollers or wheelchairs.
